As an anthropologist with a bachelor's degree, I know a little about everything. The study of humans involves history
, and even politics.
My methods are holistic and involve multimedia infusion with instruction. I believe that learning should be student-led and based upon individual needs. It is often difficult for students (I know it was for me!) to become interested in certain topics because they appear to be removed from life, some separate thing that only needs to be learned to earn a good grade. It was not until I was older and was able to actively seek the topics I was curious about that I became an excellent student. Students often do not have the option to choose subjects they prefer, but as a teacher and tutor I hope to present the content to them in a way that provides these choices.
I am currently in the process of obtaining my Masters in Education from the University of Southern California, and will graduate with credentials in May 2014. My goal is to become a middle school social science
/ history teacher, however, the skills and techniques I am learning in the program are suitable for all subjects!
The use of multimedia during instruction is something that is very important to my methods. Not only does it provide a secondary option with meeting constraints, but using the internet
as a source, creating projects, playing educational games, and learning media responsibility are crucial for future active citizens.
There are countless ways to learn various subjects. The only trick is finding which key fits the lock!
