As an anthropologist with a bachelor's degree, I know a little about everything. The study of humans involves history, biology, mathematics, astronomy, reading/writing, language studies, sociology, psychology, nutrition, and even politics.

My methods are holistic and involve multimedia infusion with instruction. I believe that learning should be student-led and based upon individual needs. It is often difficult for students (I know it was for me!) to become interested in certain topics because they appear to be removed from life, some separate thing that only needs to be learned to earn a good grade. It was not until I was older and was able to actively seek the topics I was curious about that I became an excellent student. Students often do not have the option to choose subjects they prefer, but as a teacher and tutor I hope to present the content to them in a way that provides these choices.

I am currently in the process of obtaining my Masters in Education from the University of Southern California, and will graduate with credentials in May 2014. My goal is to become a middle school social science/ history teacher, however, the skills and techniques I am learning in the program are suitable for all subjects!

The use of multimedia during instruction is something that is very important to my methods. Not only does it provide a secondary option with meeting constraints, but using the internet as a source, creating projects, playing educational games, and learning media responsibility are crucial for future active citizens.

There are countless ways to learn various subjects. The only trick is finding which key fits the lock!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I obtained my bachelors degree in 2008 from Arizona State University. My personal focus was on bioarchaeology, or the combination of biology and archaeology. I have worked in the American Southwest, Ireland, and Sudan for the past 5 years. My knowledge extends from anthropological history to the practice of fieldwork, ethics, and techniques used.

Anthropology is my passion; if there's one thing I know, it's people!

Archaeology

I obtained my bachelors degree in 2008 from Arizona State University. My personal focus was on bioarchaeology, or the combination of biology and archaeology. I have worked in the field and lab for either; excavation, survey, conservation, government, and rescue projects. I've primarily worked in the American Southwest, although I have also worked in Ireland and Sudan. My knowledge extends from anthropological history to the practice of fieldwork, ethics, and techniques used.

Astronomy

My knowledge is entry-level college. This includes Astrology.

Biology

Biology is one of my best subjects!

Elementary (K-6th)

Working for the Boys & Girls Club for the 2012-2013 school year as an after-school program specialist, I have had the opportunity to attend multiple training classes as well as put those practices into immediate use. I am currently responsible for an average of 20 middle school student and maintain weekly and monthly academic programs. I strive to create activities that coincide with the California Standards, which entails many subjects.

European History

Pre-history to modern

Social Studies

I am currently in the process of receiving my Masters of Education with a single-subject credential in social studies. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from ASU where I focused on archaeology. Social studies is my preferred subject as it is the one that I most enjoy, and one that I can truly give my all to. This specific subject requires sometimes difficult topics and larger concepts, and I like to emphasize these over bland facts.
