In all of my careers I have been extremely successful managing, coordinating, selling product, obtaining ads, marketing and merchandising using the latest technology. I've written press releases and created and monitored public relation campaigns. As a business person who launched my own company, I can teach people the art of starting their own companies, the ins and outs and how to get started in business.

I am an artist working in all media including crafts, needlework, graphic design and photography. I introduced a line of craft kits which I use for make and take workshops. I traveled the US as a teacher, craft and seminar instructor. I would be available for teaching crafts and photography. Students of all ages respond positively to my easy going, gentle style of teaching.

Every person has the ability to be creative. Sometimes it just takes someone to coax it out of them, someone to boost their confidence, to allow them to see themselves in a new light. I, Marlene Dobrin, have the ability to help the individual find and test their limits in the creative world.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a BA degree in Education from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. I taught 4th grade in Chicago and substituted in high schools in Chicago and Stamford, CT. I can help any student in any subject except foreign language from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Being a mom I can relate to children who have difficulties and can help them learn and be confident within themselves.

Photography

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and I majored in graphic design and photography. My teachers were alumni of Yale and The Philadelphia College of Art. Public Speaking

I have a BA degree from Roosevelt University where I took courses in public speaking except then they called it emoting. These courses taught me that even if you are not going to be a stage actor you have to learn how to speak to one person or in front of a group of people. Cooking

I am a home cook who enjoys cooking and creating meals. Throughout the years I have taken several cooking classes. What is in the refrigerator dictates what the meals of the day will be. I use leftovers to create wonderful meals. I can help one learn to be a creative cook, plan a balanced meal and cook with or without recipes. I can help one plan a meal for one or for a crowd making simple to fancy dinners.

Marketing

As a Sales and Marketing specialist I have worked both in wholesale and retail commerce for more than 20 years. I have created my own product line and marketed it to stores as well as the general public in kiosks and art fairs.

I can consult, sell, market and teach one how to take a product to market. There are a lot of ways to tackle this subject using some old tactics making cold calls and in house visits, to using the internet to connect in order to market a product.

Needlework

The difference between NeedleArts is the backing one works on whether it be fabric or canvas. Any stitch can be duplicated in all the different NeedleArts. My theory is there are only 2 stitches, a long one and a short one. If you stitch them vertical or horizontal or at a slant, it is the same stitch just named differently. I teach multiple stitches for any NeedleArt canvas whether it be needlepoint, embroidery, cross stitch or counted cross stitch.

I studied art history and architectural history. I grew up in Chicago, the mecca of architecture, and worked and took lessons and graduated in buildings by the masters. I can help anyone with architectural history but not the mechanics of being an architect.
