I am passionate about learning and teaching!
My educational background and love of learning began in Minnesota and continued with moves to South America, California, and finally to Arizona. I earned a BA degree in Special Education from St. Cloud University in MN, and a Masters degree in Education from Northern Arizona University. I hold current certifications in K-8 and Special Education Cross-Categorical.
My teaching career spans 34 years of working in multi-cultural environments, where I have enjoyed creating exceptional learning experiences for students in both General Education grades 1st-4th, and Special Education grades K-8th.
As a teacher I am fueled by my students' enthusiasm and desire to learn! I have been blessed to share priceless experiences with students, parents, and colleagues ... KNOWING that I can make a difference in a child's life! I most enjoy assisting students who are having difficulties with learning or have special needs, which is why I want to offer my services as a tutor. I consider myself to be patient, positive, and persistent.
I am available to tutor K-6, including Special Needs students in the areas of phonics, reading and comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and writing.
Important steps toward remediation include pre and post assessments, creating realistic goals and objectives, skill application and drill, use of manipulatives, review homework assignments, and weekly progress charting. It's very important to me that parents and students have the opportunity to provide their input, and are involved and committed to the process. Together we can make a positive difference!
