Elementary Teacher with a Knack for Technology

I was certified as an elementary school teacher in 2009. I completed my student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom; however, I was hired as a technology teacher for grades kindergarten through eighth grade. In this position I developed grade-level appropriate curriculum and lead classroom instruction. I had the experience working with a variety of students including special needs. I adapted my lessons for students with reading, visual, and hearing challenges. I also worked with students with autism. In this position I also trained new and current staff members on software applications and hardware peripherals. I assisted teachers with integrating technology into their daily lessons including reading, history, math, and science topics. While I have an extensive background in technology, I am also certified to teach in the elementary grades. I enjoy reading, history, geography, and science. I am also a volunteer reader to record textbooks for the visually impaired. I would be glad to meet with you to discuss tutoring opportunities.

Grammar

When taking courses for my Bachelor's degree in English, Grammar was my favorite subject. There was a methodology in finding out the parts of speech within a sentence. I enjoy the complexity of how one word can take on multiple parts of speech by making a few changes to it like adding -ly, -ing, or -ed. I would enjoy teaching your student the "secret" code of grammar.

Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint is the creative application of the Microsoft Office Suite. When teaching my students, they enjoyed adding pictures, sounds, and animations to their presentations. It allowed them more flexibility then writing an essay. There is much you can do with this program and I would love to show your student how to create a presentation.

Reading

Reading is the core to all learning. Without this skill, a person is limited in their ability to learn. I learned many techniques to help students learn how to read. I would enjoy helping your student how to improve their reading skills and develop a love of reading as I have.
