Joshua’s qualifications in specific subjects below.
Algebra 1
Algebra 1 is very basic math. Nothing but an A should be acceptable in lower level mathematics. Algebra 1 will set the foundations to future classes. Being able to confidently solve basic arithmetic problems and using advanced skills is what this course consists of. As a tutor, I would teach the student higher level skills that teachers aren't allowed to teach due to their curriculum.
Algebra 2
Algebra 2, although a tad more difficult than Algebra 1, poses the same problems to mathematicians. Learning the basic material and building off of that material will lay the foundations to classes like Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Precalc, and Calculus.
In Algebra 2, it's imperative to learn how to navigate the calculator and how to perform certain operations in your head. There will be certain shortcuts that I'll be able to teach the student that wouldn't be available to them otherwise.
Prealgebra
Prealgebra is a skill that needs to be mastered. There are certain skills in the future courses that will occasionally pop up, but with Prealgebra, everything that you've learned from that content becomes prevalent in any problem you attempt to complete.
The student will be tasked with basic math skills at first [adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplication]. Afterwards, the student will work on understanding equations and why equations are set up as they are. Finally, the student will be tasked with solving multiple equations of the same quality.
If the student is willing to proceed further, then I also offer Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 classes. Additionally, after those two classes, I have college algebra experience as well.
Public Speaking
Public Speaking is an IMPERATIVE skill to succeed. I've received multiple accolades for my speaking skills. Although I'm very young, I have been accredited by students, teachers, and peers for the way I handle myself in front of a crowd.
I will teach you how to handle your anxiety, how to write a speech, how to prepare for a speech, and how to play the crowd. Various exercises will be used to determine where your comfort zone is, what speeches you're good at, and how to evaluate the delivery of your speech.
I've participated in several debates. I've delivered over one hundred speeches -- both required and not required. I had to coordinate a team of Japanese and English students. As their leader, I would have to be able to deliver a speech fully in English and then attempt to translate the speech as best as I could to an audience who didn't understand what I was saying.
Learn from these exercises and you can skip the thousand dollar college courses. I took one and I found out that I was better than everyone else in there. What molds you is experience and that's what this course will provide you.
SAT Writing
There is a huge difference between "writing" and "writing for the SAT". In order to get the best score possible on the SAT, I will train the student to write objectively -- not subjectively. The thing about subjective writing is that writers tend to get a bit imaginative.
What this course does is make the student completely forget that mindset for tests like this. Instead of adding "fluff" to your writing, the student will be tasked with several writing assignments that will improve objective quality.
At the end of this course, the student should be able to differentiate between objective and subjective writing. The question of, "How should I answer this?" will never have to be asked again when the student completes this course.
Video Production
I have six years of Video Production/Broadcast Technology knowledge underneath my belt. I know how to chroma key, color correct, saturate, crop, and use motion on both Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. I can teach the basics - cutting, scrolling through the timeline, using transitions, using effects, and more. I can also teach you the more advanced things like cropping, cutting live film, chroma key, color correction, and even more.
If you need to know how to use your camera correctly, I know how to use standard cameras and HD cameras. I have expertise in using cameras with depth of field and cameras that are just for personal use. I can teach you how to set up your shots correctly and how to make them look more interesting than you think. I can also teach you how to light up a green screen or any screen at all. Proper lighting and proper audio are key to Video Production and I can teach you all those essential items.
