My name is RheaAnne and below is some information about me. Please feel free to ask any questions!
I have been a teacher for six years and love what I do! My experience includes teaching each grade from 5th through 8th in all core subjects. My favorite subjects are Language Arts and Social Studies, though I am very helpful with Math and Science as well. I am currently teaching Middle School Social Studies and Science in Phoenix, AZ. In my teaching, I emphasize study skills and metacognition (awareness of your thought processes or how you are doing something)as tools for independence. I believe in goal-setting and mapping out a plan. For three years I taught at an international school in Vienna, Austria so I also greatly encourage a global perspective. I want to foster a student's interest in the world around them and the opportunities they have to explore through learning. I do not mind tutoring two subjects within a session as long as specific goals are set. This is especially helpful to students who do not like school because they have struggled or do not see the purpose of certain skills. I can help with this! Students often thank me for how I explain things.
My degrees are a Bachelor's in English and Master's in Elementary Education. I have taught in Phoenix, AZ and in Vienna, Austria, at public schools and a private school respectively. I was homeschooled myself so I value the various ways to get an education. Two of my prior tutoring experiences have included the privileges of tutoring a superintendent's son here in Arizona and a Board Director's daughter in Austria. Often when students start coming to tutoring they are discouraged or disinterested. I like to build a relationship to model creativity and critical thinking. Even so, tutoring is a temporary assistance on the path to independent success. I hope to be a help to you for any duration you need, but I ultimately want to build to achievement and independence.
