I am passionate about teaching, energetic, enthusiastic, and like to get those around me swept up into the excitement about learning! I have been working in the field of education in various aspects for almost 20 years! I began in education as a teachers assistant in in a special education setting in 1991 and continued as a support staff, being promoted to Therapy Assistant for VOC department, OT/PT department and finally the ADL department. I made the decision to return to college an obtain my degree and graduated in 2007 from Grand Canyon University with a dual degree: BS E.Ed and BS in Sp.Ed.
I know that there are many different types of learners and no two learners should be expected to 'get it' the same way. I have taken various trainings (curriculum based, Kagan, WFTB, Fundmentals, Thinking Maps, etc), on how to reach the various learning styles, and consider it my greatest gift to seek out what specific learning style will help each student get that 'light bulb' moment. I absolutely live for that moment that the light bulb goes on and the excitement that ensues forth from that.
I also take very personally the need for each learner to have the gift of confidence installed into them. Sometimes the greatest barrier between understanding and a learner can be their own lack of believing in themselves. I believe that it is extremely important to inject each learner with a belief in themselves and their abilities to learn, grow, succeed, and reach their academic goals. You can do it! Let me show you how.
I look forward to having the privilege to work with you!
I am also available in a virtual setting to meet the needs of all the different modality of learners!
