My name is Megan and I am 24 years old. I am originally from Elk City, Oklahoma. I graduated with honors from NAU with a degree in chemistry-pre health professional. I have always been very passionate about chemistry and learning! In my undergraduate degree I used to tutor fellow class mates in algebra and general chemistry. I also have been a certified EMT for the past 5 years, so I am familiar with the medical community.
The most important thing a student can learn though is good study habits. The earlier a student can learn this the better off they are. If you need help getting your child prepared for high school or college I can walk them through the steps that will make them successful. I have never had a student not takes my helpful hints to heart. For my students and I have always shared a mutual respect for each other that allows for a better learning environment.
If you are looking for a tutor for your child I would also say that I would be a great match. I was a part of Big Brother Big Sisters for four years. Over those years I had two little sisters that I helped with school work. I know how to make science and math fun! I used to combine my love of cooking and school to help convey concepts. For instance my little sister was struggling memorizing the cell body. So we made a cake and bought candy, then the fun began. We cut out certain parts of the cake and used candy to represent certain parts of the cell such as the mitochondria and the nucleus.
I learned over my years of education that it is much better to truly understand the concepts at a basic level then to just cram the material and forget it later. I would say the biggest compliment I have received from students and friends that I have helped was that my fun way of learning concepts has never left them.
I look forward to the opportunity to help you or your child prepare for the future.
