My name is Megan and I am 24 years old. I am from a small town in Oklahoma and went to college at Northern Arizona University. Awarded with high honors, I graduated from school receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a medical emphasis. Alongside my academic career, I am certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. I have always been very passionate about academia and that is why I started sharing my view with others. Tutoring for the past six years has been a way to express the love I have for school. It has also been a way to shape my personal character into becoming a better educator. My diverse background in Chemistry and medicine has allowed me the ability to educate students in all areas of science. In addition to science, I am also well versed in mathematics and preparation for standardized test taking.
I believe the most important quality a student should obtain for academic success, is excellent study skills. I pride myself in cementing fun and constructive ways to improve study habits. I share a mutual, respectful relationship with all of my students. Because of this, I am able to efficiently excel them into being successful in the academic realm.
In addition to higher education, I truly enjoy teaching students in elementary school. I was a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters for four years. Over those years, I mentored and tutored two little 'sisters.' In an effort to make learning fun, I came up with creative ways to convey concepts. For instance, my little 'sister' was struggling to memorize the structures of the cell body, so we created an edible science model out of cake and assorted candies. We cut out certain parts of the cake and used the candy to represent parts of the cell. Needless to say, we ate all of the parts of the cell, including the nucleus.
If you have any questions about my teaching styles or how I can better assist you, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to the opportunity to help you or your child prepare for the future.
