Es un placer. My name is David. I have spent 50% of my 24 year teaching career teaching Spanish to high school students. Spanish is my first language. Being raised in a 1st generation Mexican-American family with 7 siblings- my transition to learning, speaking, reading and writing another language had given me the real-life experiences to teach a foreign language. During my 24 year tenure as an Educator in both Arizona and California- I have utilized my experiences of learning a new language with students and teachers who teach students who speak Spanish and are learning English. I have had the opportunity to work extensively with students from all walks of life, whether they be native or heritage Spanish speakers, or students learning Spanish as a second language. My upbringing and professional experiences have given me a broader perspective of attacking languages to make them come alive and fulfilling to my students.
As for the other 50% of my teaching experience? I taught all grade levels except for Kindergarten. Other than Spanish- I especially enjoy helping students with their math, reading and writing challenges. I look forward to working with you or your student to make language interesting and applicable for future endeavors. As for my present endeavors- I enjoy working with families and their pre-college students prepare for their college planning by educating the student and the family on how to best obtain financial aid for their student so that college becomes affordable and financially attainable.
