I am a current medical student, and so I am proficient in most sciences, as our curriculum requires a foundation in all the sciences. My goal as a tutor is help students better UNDERSTAND the material and build a strong foundation of knowledge to help them in the future. Rather than simply teaching material and helping prepare students for testing, I aim to help students succeed in the long term by emphasizing proper understanding of the basics and fundamentals of each subject. The students who succeed the most as they continue their education are those who have continued to build upon what they have learned, and thus, the stronger one's foundation is, the more he/she will shine in his/her future studies.
During a tutoring session, I aim to keep my students on their feet and solving problems at all times. Rather than simply teaching them, I allow my students to attempt practice questions and sample problems to better understand where they struggle and then I mold my tutoring based on each students individual needs. My goal is to guide students to not only learn material for an upcoming exam, but to help them connect the dots between what they learn and thus help them better understand and retain the material.
My students are definitely very well prepared for their exams and classwork, but they also walk away with a strong foundation in subjects they once struggled with. They leave with the confidence and ability to apply their knowledge far into the future.
