I have 20 years experience as a classroom teacher. I have taught all ages of students from preschool to high school. I work with gifted, special education, and general education students. I hold an Arizona Standard Secondary Certificate in the subjects of fine arts, communication arts, social studies, and journalism. I also hold an Arizona Career and Technical Education Certificate in the area of industrial technology. Currently, I teach high school photography and graphic design. I tutor in digital and film photography, Photoshop, Lightroom, and graphic design. I have also taught yearbook and sophomore English, as well as SAT and AIMS test prep. I hold a certificate in Early Adolescence and Young Adult Career and Technical Education in Media Arts from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. I obtained this certification 11 years ago and just recently renewed my National Board Certification. I have a passion for photography and graphic design. I attend Photoshop World annually to stay current with trends in technology, equipment, and content. I have worked with Photoshop for the last 15 years and attend Photoshop World training annually.

Desktop Publishing

I taught high school yearbook for eight years and worked on reporting, writing, editing and design of five publications before that. I trained with Jostens Publishing, Arizona Interscholastic Press Assoication (former Board Member) and the National Scholastic Press Association. Currently, I teach photography and graphic design.

Film

I hold an AZ secondary certificate and national board certificate in art. I have taught film and digital photography since 1999. I have a BA in communications and took courses in TV production.

Macintosh

I teach in and maintain a Macintosh lab. I have worked with MacIntosh operating systems since 1993. I specialize in graphic design applications and Adobe Creative Suite.

Photography

Study Skills

As a high school English and career and technical education teacher I help students organize their learning and develop study skills. I teach several forms of note taking and methods of organizing information. I also implement Seven Habits for Teens and Adults to help student with time management, goal setting and prioritizing.
