Tutoring while guiding the student is my purpose. I believe that all students can learn and become high achievers if they are given the appropriate tools and strategies.

I have an MBA from Ohio State University, a BA in Economics and a BBA in Management (from St. Mary's at Notre Dame). I have a minor in humanities. My years in the business world, and more than 20 years tutoring students from kindergarten through college, as well as conducting corporate training have permitted me to help students learn at their potential.

Whether it is reading, writing, history, social studies, math, or many other subjects and even study skills, I can help you catch up or overcome difficulties in your subject. It would be a joy to help you.

In the areas of math, I take a step-by-step approach.In reading, I rebuild with phonics. In social studies and history, I teach the student how to connect and apply the information, and find parallels in other parts of history.

Algebra 1

When it comes to math, Algebra is my first love. I find with my students that many of their problems with Algebra can be fixed with careful review of strategies for solving the different categories of equations. Algebra is my very favorite subject to tutor.

Besides that, true memorization of math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)~so that students instantly know the answers, will go a long way in improving the math grades.

American History

American History is currently my favorite history. I love to try to make American History come alive for my students. It is my belief that students can fall in love with American history and gain a terrific understanding of WHY it is important to study and know the history of the country's founding, including its founding documents.

Geometry

If you are struggling with geometry, contact me. You see, you really can understand theorems, postulates, proofs, triangles, parallelograms, and oh so much more. Don't wait and figure 'oh it will get better'.

Prealgebra

I absolutely love tutoring Pre-algebra. It is a key stepping stone to all of high school math. Students can succeed in pre-algebra with proper tutoring even if they have had difficulties in the past.Their difficulties often can be resolved when they learn proper tools and strategies.

GED

My absolute favorite part of the GED to tutor is math. Great progress can be made with steady work and multiple tutoring sessions. Math difficulties stem from big holes in knowledge and missing tools. My strength is to provide those exact things.

Elementary Math

I have years of experience working with students on their math concepts. Elementary math, pre-algebra and algebra are among my favorites!

Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary reading and language arts are a specialty of mine. I have over 10 years experience tutoring various age elementary school children in reading, language arts, phonics spelling and vocabulary. I have spent over 15 years teaching phonics on a volunteer basis to individual pre-school and elementary school aged students.

I have used most of the major curriculum providers that specialize in phonics. These include Samuel B, as well as Teaching Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. In addition, I have trained other moms in how to teach their children phonics. This has in most cases helped correct reading and comprehension problems that the children have experienced.
