I am a retired Electrical Engineer with BSEE and AAS degrees. I graduated from DeVry Technical Institute and after working in the Aerospace Industry for a time attended Marquette University for my BSEE. Math was my favorite subject and I obtained straight A's throughout my school years. I am beginning my tutoring with Algebra I&II, but will eventually tutor through Calculus.

I have had informal tutoring experience in Maryland helping a child of a friend of mine. Here in Arizona I tutored through the Scottsdale Senior Center for 5 years. My method is to not only teach HOW to do the math, but the WHY behind it. The better a student understands why he or she is doing something the easier it will be.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I work with students at their level, explaining concepts in the most basic terms necessary. I will use their textbook but I also have an excellent text with explanations and hundreds of problems. I want my students to not only know how, but why. I feel it is necessary for students to think.

Algebra 2

I work with students at their level, explaining concepts in the most basic terms necessary. I will use their textbook but I also have an excellent text with explanations and hundreds of problems. I want my students to not only know how, but why. I feel it is necessary for students to think.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been an elementary math tutor as a volunteer with the Scottsdale Senior Center for 5 years in the past. To my credit each parent asked for me again for the following year. I have the patience that is sometimes needed. I am a retired Electrical Engineer with BSEE and AAS degrees.

GED

I have a wide range of math skills. Will work at the student's level with plenty of patience. I want the student to know not only how to solve problems but understand the concepts involved.

Prealgebra

I work with students at their level, explaining concepts in the most basic terms necessary. I will use their textbook and work as many problems as needed until I believe they understand. I want my students to not only know how, but why. I want my students to think.

SAT Math

I have a wide range of math skills and work from an excellent text. Will work at the student's level so they know not only how to solve the problems but also the concepts.
