Hello and Welcome! My name is Jerrianne, and I will be your tutor.

I currently work as a consulting accountant who designs cost accounting systems/packages to deal with unique manufacturing or construction projects that traditionally have low profit margin or returns on investments. Previously, I worked as a Corporate Controller and as a Vice President of Finance in multi-million, multi-state operations, which sustained significant growth in their core business operations during my tenure at both locations. I subsequently decided to pursue my PhD in Accounting (minor in environmental science) and began teaching part time four years ago. I have since discovered that I enjoy this very much and hope that you will learn a lot from this course as we go through the assigned material together. I received my BBA in Accounting from Belmont Baptist University in Nashville, TN., and my MBA/ACC from the University of Phoenix.

My other interests include international finance and economics (this has been really fascinating lately), college football, working out and spending time with my kids. I am the mother of five (yes, FIVE) and I am highly motivated to do more and learn more all of the time! I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Accounting is defined as "The systematic recording, reporting, and analysis of financial transactions of a business" (WebFinance, Inc, 2012). Accounting is the financial language of business, internationally. This is why it is important to understand the underlying concepts to any financials, for any type of business you may be employed with.

Accounting classes tend to 'bore' and stress out most students. I try to make accounting interesting and fun, as we apply real world situations to the application of the current accounting lessons. I have taught all undergraduate courses on campus, for four years, and online for the last two years. I love accounting and hope to inspire your own enthusiasm as you learn how this discipline can enrich your life professionally and personally.

The study of business can apply to a wide range of academic disciplines. It typically encompasses communications, organizational leadership and business management. These classes introduce us to the world of business and let us apply qualitative skills to the professional environment.

Business administration will include additional strategic classes that allow for quantitative measurement of performance. This includes business finance, economics or accounting analysis.

I have been teaching general business communications, strategic management, and business finance and business law since 2007. I have also taught automated accounting classes using QuickBooks Pro and Peachtree software packages, at the beginner and intermediate levels. All of the classes listed above, each add their own unique skill set to becoming a proficient Business Manager or Owner.

Finance is the study of the utilization of financial instruments as a form of economic output, when analyzed over time. You will see how lending in the commercial and private markets, depend on solvencing/profits in the financial districts. Trading is sensitive to national and international commerce, as our financial stability depends on the strength of the American monetary system.
Finance will give you a good foundation in comprehending the ongoing monetary health of an organization.

Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook 2010 is "the premium business and personal e-mail management tool and calendar software to help you stay in touch.."(

This program is a total management tool that can accommodate your personal and business profiles. I began teaching the core Microsoft Office products classes in 2011. We explored the dynamics of the program, while learning to organize their personal lives. Areas covered will include email and its functions, calendar setup, appointment request and alert settings, etc.

Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows 7 is the current version of windows, available. Windows 7 is an "operating system" and is required to execute your user programs. Think of it as an instructor, as it provides direction to the programs and acts as a link between the hardware (CPU) and software (user program).

I have been teaching courses in Windows 7 for the last 12 months. The following objectives are just a small sample of what all is available to cover. Please refer to the following;

* Manage toolbars and ribbons and PC resources using the control panel
* Personalize the desktop
* Navigate through folders and subfolders
* Create and name files and folders
* Identify important and helpful short cut keys
* Any other area you wish to cover

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is a word processing program. It has dynamic capabilities including new features in the 2010 version. Some of the objectives that I cover are provided below. I have been teaching courses in Word 2010, for the last two years.

*Describe the differences between Word 2010 and previous versions
*Define, modify, and work within the Ribbon
*Create and save documents
*Open, navigate, and close documents
*Edit and proofread text
*Find and replace text
*Insert saved text

There are so many tasks that can be performed with this program and I am more than happy to address any concerns you may have.

Prealgebra is a subject that presents a review of fractions, mixed numbers, decimals and percents, real numbers and problem solving with equations. We use real world problems to help assimilate the concepts while applying them to common issues that occur in our daily lives.

QuickBooks is currently the most widely used 'over the counter' financial packages, available. It is a strong program that can easily support small business, while providing dynamic reports for financial decisions. The program is user friendly and gives a business excellent performance with its multiple modules for all of your business needs.

I have taught classes in QuickBooks, for the past four years. I currently support the 2010 Pro version, for those who need assistance. I think you will be quite impressed with QuickBooks and the results obtained from it's implementation.
