Looking for significant improvements in your education on math or physics or both? Wishing for a guided learning, from homework to test preparation to curriculum teaching by a proven academic (a university physics professor) and engineering professional (worked in leading technology companies)? Missing clearly written (on paper or pdf) notes containing highlights of concepts, methods, key rules involved, and easy-to-read steps leading to the correct results? Searching for a trusted tutor or mentor who has strong references by students from high-schools to universities to high-tech companies, and is a long time member of the local communities?

I received my PhD in Physics and taught both university undergraduate, graduate courses in Physics, supervised thesis MS/PhD students, as lecturer and assistant professor (ref 1). The Physics subjects I taught use extensively geometry, trigonometry, algebra, calculus and differential equations (ref 2). I was also a Math and Physics teacher for algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and introduction to physics to a group of high/middle-school children at a local language and cultural education school. I had my background check on file with Kyrene School District when I was a badminton assistant coach (volunteer) in one of the well known high schools in the area.

I love to share with people the importance and correct use of Math and Physics for learning or real-life applications, My goal is to help people master Math and Physics from principle to applications as their needs require. I am fluent in English (professional) and Mandarin (native). From my 25+ years in universities and major companies in the industry (as engineer, software developer, team manager), I worked extensively, face-to-face, with people and groups of diversified culture and professional background in roles from teaching, training for 1:1 or large audience, customer support world wide, product demonstration and publication presentations at leading industrial conferences.

As well recognized by my students (5 star ratings on all sessions, from middle to high-school to university students to business and to engineering professionals I worked with), I tailor my teaching to student's need, resources, priority on the concept or problem solving or both. I am detail minded, interactive, and flexible in working with students ranging from high/middle-school to college/university ages. I pay close attention to student's needs, learning progress, and make necessary adjustments to achieve best results. I always provide my written (paper or pdf) notes for the sessions containing highlights of concepts, methods, key rules involved, and easy-to-read steps leading to the correct results.

Thank you for the potential opportunities to work with you and help you make significant improvements on learning the concept and achieving efficient and accurate real-life problem solving in the wonderful world of Math and Physics. I look forward to the rewarding experience of working with my student clients to achieve these goals: true understanding of the subject, able to articulate the concepts learned, efficient and accurate in problem solving, better grades and standing in the class, and/or better performance at work.

Algebra 1

The text books on Algebra 1 and 2 I can use and tutor well include "Elementary Linear Algebra with Applications" by Kolman and Hill, and others.

Algebra 2

The text books on Algebra 1 and 2 I can use and tutor well include "Elementary Linear Algebra with Applications" by Kolman and Hill, and others.

I am a native Chinese/Mandarin speaker, and received my BS education in Mandarin. I was the principal of Contemporary Chinese School of Arizona in 2000-2005 (now a 600+ students, and recently awarded one of best Chinese Language/weekend School in the US by the American Chinese School Association (US). I have taught Chinese, Math, and Physics both in personal and class settings.

Differential Equations

I received BS/MS/PhD in Physics. I have studied differential equations in math and physics classes, both in symbolic and numeric forms, and later in advanced physics curricula, applications (e.g. heat transfer and fluid dynamics).

Just a sanity check now, I worked out step-by-step full solution by myself for one of the test problems in Calculus: (x^2-y^2)dx+3xydy=0, and I know I can tutor most contents in book chapters 1-5 by Dennis G. Zill 9th edition.

I can provide the solution and other evidence if needed on this qualification.

Elementary Math

The text books on Elementary Math I can use and tutor well include "One, Two, Three Absolutely Elementary Mathematics" by David Berlinkski (also author of "A Tour of the Calculus").

The text books on Geometry I can use and tutor well include Essentials of Geometry (for College Students) by Lial, Brown, Steffensen, Johnson

Linear Algebra

I received BS/MS/PhD in Physics. Have used linear algebra extensively in my life and career from teaching college classes, helping my own children, to developing commercial simulation software and doing engineering analysis for corporations. See my profile for verification.

I taught as a lecturer and assistant professor in Physics, and in these subject fields
- First year undergraduate physics
- Classical mechanics
- Quantum mechanics
Each consists a one-year / two semester classes, with weekly homework assignments, 2-3 quizzes, mid-term and final exams, with final grades based on home work, quizzes, and exams.

Please refer to my profile for specific details of my qualifications on this subject field.

The text books on Precalculus I can use and tutor well include "Precalculus Mathematics for Calculus" by Stewart, Redlin, Watson.

The text books on trigonometry I can use and tutor well include "Trigonometry" by Ron Larson.

Tim is an amazing tutor!! — I have been struggling with an accelerated physics course and Tim has become a lifesaver. He really can conceptualize physics problems and help establish a deeper understanding. After each tutor session with Tim, I feel more confident in issues with which I was struggling prior. Tim is a genuinely nice guy and actually cares about the subject matter and the people he is tutoring. I highly suggest ...
