I'm a native of Lyon, France, which is located in the rolling hills of the Rhone valley on the South East side of this beautiful country. I do love teaching the many aspects of the French language as well as enabling my students to also understand the cultural aspect of the French culture. They go together, and understanding the ways and mores of a culture facilitate the learning of the language.
As a French tutor, my prime and foremost objective is for you and I to establish a comfort zone from the beginning. I tend to do extremely well with rapport building, particularly with students who demonstrate a genuine interest for the language and culture. During our first meeting, I would probably want us to get to know each other a little. This can be done by also answering each other's questions and discussing what we like relating to the French language. I invite you to ask whatever questions you may have as well as fully describe what it is specifically that you seek to learn and get assistance with. This is also when you tell me what exactly you seek assistance with from private receiving private tutoring.
As we establish dynamic rapport, I would also want to assess your level of knowledge of the French language so that I can create the most suitable tutoring approach as to best assist you with your learning. This is when you tell me where you feel, you are stuck with your learning and what exactly do you hope to achieve from the tutoring experience.
You may struggle with pronunciation, grammar, conjugating verbs and formulating sentences, etc. We will look at your strengths and weaknesses and build upon your strengths as a way to move you right along.
Because each student is a unique person with individual natural abilities and strengths; assessing those attributes are enabling me to provide the appropriate path and tutoring approach needed for better tutoring you. My goal is to tutor you using an efficient systemic approach, which enables you to make the progress you desire. I would also want to look at your present class homework as well as whatever learning material you may have been using so far. Tell me about your learning experience, your thoughts and feelings about French, your homework, classroom load, etc. The more I know about every aspect of you past and present experience with the French language, the more likely I will be able to formulate a plan of action, derived at making learning French a positive and effective experience with the goal of boosting your knowledge of French.
There are multiple reasons as why someone wants the assistance of a private tutor, such as a college classroom student with an elective, someone majoring in French, or a person just wanting to learn more about the French language, the culture, or both. This is why an individualistic tutoring approach is created, which is based on the student needs and goals.
My past experience tutoring and teaching French has been with teenagers (high school summer program for the TRIO program), college students, and French majors. I also coached and tutored adults who wanted to improve their existing French or simply learn some basics about the French language. In every single case, it has been my experience that introducing the knowledge of French culture has boosted their interests and results.
I tend to do extremely well with adults, and with those who express an interest in learning French.
My tutoring approach is direct, dynamic, but considerate. I will go at your own path, but I will also encourage you to push along and stay focus on your goals. I will encourage you to ask questions, define your concerns, and openly discuss ideas. For my part, I will ask questions, use feedback, mentally evaluate and assess as we progress along.
I also find that doing verbal periodic feedback assessments, enable a student and tutor to stay on target. For instance, I would ask you to tell me if there is anything that you may want to change or modify, to make tutoring a better experience in our specific context. Open conversation tends to facilitate learning and it also enhance an expression of interest for the subject being taught. I do find that "Humor" and story telling via examples in the context of teaching/learning makes learning much easier and also fun.
I do like to assign homework and also give occasional quizzes, however, the most important tool that I have found to be effective in learning a language, is the ongoing verbal practice. Based on your level of the language, we will speak French and communicate this way as to get you to use what you know, retain what you are learning, and feel openly confident about doing so.
Merci beaucoup pour avoir lire tout cela, et Je vous invite bien a me poser des questions
