I would like to help you understand biology
because how life functions
I little bit about me and my teaching philosophy
: I attended a college prep school for middle and high school in St. Paul, Minnesota. I went to McGill University in Montreal for my undergraduate degree. I majored in Microbiology
and Immunology and graduated with Honors BSc (Bachelor of Science
) in 2003. I then got my first real teaching experience when I went abroad to teach 2nd to 8th grade science and 8th grade math
. After a year, I returned to my education to obtain a PhD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York. I spent 5 years researching and studying viral immunology. During my time in graduate school, I was a teaching assistant for every class available (Core I, II, and III, and Microbiology). I moved to Phoenix, Arizona in Dec of 2009 to continue research in cancer immunology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix. In addition to my research, I have been teaching at Paradise Valley Community College for over two years. Currently, I teach Introductory Biology for Allied Health Students and have taught Microbiology.
My thinking about biological sciences is everyone can and should understand how life and the human body function. I believe the knowledge can improve one's life and help us all understand the world we live in. I also think depending on the teaching methods, science can be overwhelmingly complicated or elegantly simple. I will do my best to make biology simple by using books, videos or worksheets depending on what you need as a student. There is a lot to learn in biology and organizing it correctly can help you understand and retain the information better.
I hope I can help you love science a little more.
