Thanks for looking at my profile! I am 53, hold a BA in Communication Disorders, a Master of Human Relations, and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders.

I have tutored students for about four years, in one capacity or another, in reading, writing, grammar, K-2 math, sequencing, following directions, pragmatics, and language arts. I have tutored students in kindergarten through 7th grade (SLD, typical and gifted) in reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary and K-2 math.

Phonics

I am a speech-language pathologist and the language part includes understanding how to teach phonics. I have 7 years of experience and I have 3 years of tutoring experience.

Study Skills

Organizational skills are the first prerequisite to acquiring study skills. I've tutored for 3 years and have worked with life skills and students who have Autism for 7 years. Teaching these skills is a part of my daily encounters with these children.

Special Needs

For the past seven years, I have worked exclusively with students who have mild to moderate disabilities including Down Syndrome, Autism, TBI, cerebral palsy, chromosomal additions and deletions, etc., many of whom were non-verbal when I began working with them and are now fluent or close to fluent with spoken language.

ADD/ADHD

Many of my students present with symptoms of, or a medical diagnosis of, ADD/ADHD. I have good strategies for helping them with their school work whether medicated or not.

Aspergers

I am a speech-language therapist working with students who have mild to moderate disabilities. My caseload consists of approximately 30 students who have Autism or Aspergers. In addition to communication and pragmatic skills, I also help them with comprehension, answering questions, grammar and syntax, and understand word problems.

Hard Of Hearing
