I am a professional aerospace engineer and community college adjunct faculty at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and have been tutoring mathematics and science for 11 years. I have been both an independent tutor and a university instructional assistant. The main focus of my tutoring method is to give the student a functional knowledge of the material coupled with a 'big picture' understanding. The functional knowledge will prepare students for quizzes, tests, homework, and other graded material, while the understanding gives students a sense of accomplishment and the 'ah ha' moments that make learning fun. Also, This allows students to be successful in a current class they are taking as well as future classes or activities that require this as a prerequisite.
I have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering and a master's degree in systems engineering. I have worked in the space and defense industry for 8 years. I'm currently enrolled in a graduate program in system dynamics from Worcester Polytechnical Institute.
Although my industry and career are focused on technical problem solving, I am also deeply committed to understanding the broader scope of problems including literature, philosophy, business and management, and social change.
