I am a professional aerospace engineer and have been tutoring mathematics and science for 10 years. I have been both an independent tutor and a university instructional assistant. The main focus of my tutoring method is to give the student a functional knowledge of the material coupled with a 'big picture' understanding. The functional knowledge will prepare students for quizzes, tests, homework, and other graded material, while the understanding gives students a sense of accomplishment and the 'ah ha' moments that make learning fun. Also, This allows students to be successful in a current class they are taking as well as future classes or activities that require this as a prerequisite.

I have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering and have worked in that field for 7 years. I am currently finishing my masters degree in systems engineering.

I have been coaching early-career professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers for 5 years. I've been heavily involved in career and professional development, resume writing, networking, training and certification for engineering disciplines and careers in the aerospace and defense industry.

MATLAB

I have used MATLAB and Simulink for the last 7 years to model and test control system design. My MATLAB experience draws on my experience with numerical methods and applied mathematics experience (linear algebra, computational complexity, and discrete mathematics).

Mechanical Engineering

My undergraduate degree is in aerospace engineering and my masters degree is in systems engineering and I have been a practicing engineer for 7 years. Areas of expertise include: dynamics and control systems, mechanical design, numerical methods, modeling and simulation, space vehicle dynamics, rocket propulsion, and technical writing.

Precalculus

Precalculus, in my opinion, is one of the most important mathematics courses out there. This material usually is the real difference between more computational/numerical problems to a more sophisticated understanding of mathematics.

Trigonometry

I have covered basic mathematics, algebra, and trigonometry for many years. Also, the application of algebra to higher mathematics is a really important skill to have.

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra is quickly replacing differential equations as being the most important mathematical skill to have in the engineering disciplines. This is a skill set that I use on a weekly basis in my work and feel has very important and wide ranging application.
