Hello students and parents. Thank you for visiting my page and thank you even more for researching tutoring options. I understand the difficulty in reaching out to a tutor for assistance, but it's always a good decision. As we always hear from our teachers and parents, if you need help, just ask. Whether you have fallen behind on some skills and need help catching up or just want to keep recently used skills from being forgotten during summer break, I can help. I have had experience tutoring students from middle school all the way to adults in college, covering topics from basic math to calculus.
I am currently a student myself, pursuing my Bachelor's of Education degree in Secondary Education- Mathematics concentration. Tutoring/teaching students in math is not just a side job for me- it is soon to be my career. I have a passion for helping students understand math because I honestly believe math skills relate to every possible facet of our lives. This especially holds true for algebra and geometry; and as the lower rungs of the math ladder, algebra and geometry need to be fully understood so that more advanced topics can be built upon them. I help students to understand math terminology and processes by explaining them in a variety of ways. Since everyone learns differently, we never know exactly what explanation or demonstration will click with a student until it is presented. My goal is not to simply tell students what to do to solve a problem, but to make sure they understand why so that they can apply it to future problems.
I have always had an inclination toward math and science subjects, though I thoroughly believe it is important to sharpen our English skills as well. In a society where it has become acceptable to use improper grammar and where it is common to abbreviate words and even entire phrases and purposely misspell words to add pizzazz, students and adults have forgotten the correct way to speak and write. The best way to improve our English proficiency is to learn and consistently practice the correct way to write. The old adage is true: practice makes perfect.
So if you want to hone in on your math or English abilities, I’d love to be of assistance. I am a very down-to-Earth person and I am confident that you will have a comfortable and constructive learning experience with me. Happy studies!
