All of Philip’s current tutoring subjects are listed at the left. You can read more about Philip’s qualifications in specific subjects below.

Algebra 1

I first learned Algebra 1 through a software disk program that my dad got me in high school. It was not easy for me to learn it but I kept practicing and started to get the hang of it. Gradually, mathematics became second nature to me.

Algebra 2

When I was in high school, my father bought me disks with math programs on them. The math content on the disks were Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. I practiced and mastered them all during my downtime after school. This attributed greatly to my understanding of mathematics today.

Precalculus

I first learned precalculus in high school. It was easy for me since I could apply all the complex algebra to it. It also goes back to back with trigonometry, which I studied straight out the text book during my down time.

Trigonometry

I taught myself how to do trigonometry by studying it on my down time while in high school. It wasn't easy for me to begin with but I kept thinking over concepts and refering back to what I was reading, and it started to make sense.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
