Hello! I've been private tutoring since I started as a Latin tutor in college. I moved on to live in Japan for seven years, teaching mostly English as a Second Language (ESL) to students of all ages. For my last three years in Japan, I worked in my own school; there, I taught several subjects along with ESL.
Since returning to the U.S., I've been trained and tutoring test prep for ACT/PATH/SAT/PSAT/GED. I've worked with students of all ages, and have seen scores rise dramatically. I also have the experience of subject-specific tutoring public and private school students, home-school students, and students with disabilities.
I am currently working on a teaching master's degree at UCA. During the school year, I am the Japanese instructor at the university.

I expect students to participate and be dedicated in their work, but I try to keep the atmosphere light to keep students from dreading their time with me. I enjoy multimedia lessons, and thus look forward to watching videos and listening to music or audio clips - I want students to experience learning from more than books and lectures.
I can program online using HTML language and the Drupal content management system and can play the guitar. My hobbies include reading, darts, table games, and digital collage. I can speak and read conversational Japanese. Hello! I've been private tutoring since I started as a Latin tutor in college. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
