My name is Lori, and I would like to help your child do better in school!

I am a 36 year old stay-at-home mother of four children, ranging in age from seven to fourteen. I graduated from high school with honors in 1997. After graduating from high school, I served for four years in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 2002. In 2012, I graduated with highest honors from Ashford University with a Bachelor's degree in Education Studies. I love to learn new things, and I equally love helping others learn and grow. My ultimate career goal is to be a teacher so that I can use my experiences, education and talents to help children reach their greatest potential.

Tutoring is something that comes naturally for me; from a young age I have enjoyed helping others understand and complete homework, projects or study for tests. I am capable of tutoring in any subject at the elementary level and most secondary subjects as well. If I can be of help to your child, please contact me today! Thank you for visiting my profile page, and God Bless!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have seven years of experience teaching K-6 subjects to my four children--including phonics/reading, mathematics, social studies, science, writing, art, music, and physical education. Although I am not a certified teacher, I do have a bachelor's degree in education. My education plus my experience as a home-school teacher give me a unique insight into one-on-one, personalized education--which I firmly believe is the optimum environment for a student to learn.

Phonics

I graduated with honors from Ashford University with a bachelor's degree in Education. My coursework included a course dedicated to the teaching of phonics--not only to introduce early-elementary students to reading, but also as a method of strengthening reading skills in older students.

Sociology

I have an extensive interest in sociology. My undergraduate college program included numerous courses relating to the subject, covering topics such as ethics, social responsibility, cross-cultural perspectives, and global socioeconomic perspectives.
