I teach at the University of Alabama, and my background is in English, Classics (Greek/Latin), and English as Second Language. I have intermediate fluency in French and Spanish, so languages are really my "thing."
If you are an ESL student: I can help you with reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation, and grammar. I am an ESL teacher.
If you already know English: I can help you increase your reading and writing skills.
Writing: If you need help writing or sharpening your skills for test essays (comparative/contrast, argumentative, narrative etc.), then I am one of the best people out here. I assign/teach/grade writing assignments for a living, so I know what colleges and other teachers are looking for; I look for them from my students. I understand the best ways to most easily pass standard writing assessment exams(think ACT, SAT, GRE, TOEFL). Additionally, I have 4 years of university experience in editing, proofreading, and design, so I am also excellent at catching grammar and formatting mistakes common to writing assignments. Of course, I love grammar as well, so I can also teach you to write more clearly, more specifically, and with more finesse.
Reading: If you need help in your Reading, I can teach you how to increase your reading speed as well as retain what you read. I can teach simple ways to significantly increase your vocabulary and how to comprehend more of your reading material. Finally, I can help you categorize and organize information so you can recall it clearly and precisely. I can say this because as a teacher of English, that is my job at The University of Alabama.
