I am a former teacher in Elementary and Junior High Schools. I have worked successfully with students who have had difficulty with Math, Reading, Phonics, Language or English Grammar. The students I worked with were able to catch up with their peers and sometimes surpass them. I have also had success in teaching methods to use when taking tests. This helps the student who gets nervous when the word "test" is mentioned become more successful in taking tests.

I strongly believe any child will improve when they know why they are completing the steps they do in math. Their reading improves when they have a good understanding of phonics. English grammar also has logical rules to follow. In learning why these things are done, the student is not limited to memorizing a set of steps that has no meaning to them.

Reading

I have had experience in both public and private schools. Many of my students achieved significant improvement in their reading skills. I have worked with students in a private setting that improved their reading level at least one grade level.

English

I have a solid background in teaching grammer and sentence structure. I have taught both elementary and junior high english, reading and math in both public and private schools. I have also tutored students. Teaching is my passion.

GED

I have taught in elementary, junior high schools. I have also taught GED preparation in Anniston, AL. My certification (which has lapsed) was in all areas of study in Grades K-8, as well as English in Grades 1-12. I have also been certified by WyzAnt in Test Preparation.

SAT Reading

I have been approved by WyzAnt to teach SAT Reading. I have taught reading in several school systems. I have a BA degree with a minor in English. I later went on to receive a Master's degree in another field.

SAT Writing

I have taught English, including writing, in several school systems. I have a BA degree with a minor in English. I went further and received a Master's degree in another field. As a requirement for graduation, I was required to write a Thesis of an original topic.

ASVAB

I have experience in teaching English, Math and Test Preparation. I am certified to work with ASVAB candidates.

Spelling

I teach phonics which a system of learning how letters sound in combination with other letters. The child learns to spell by the sound of the word instead of memorizing a series of letters which don't make any sense to them.

Elementary Math

I have experience teaching elementary, Junior High and High School Math. My teaching method is to show the child why we do certain things in Math so they can figure out future problems.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a former teacher certified to teach all subjects in Kindergarten through Grade 8. I have taught a total of 8 years in a variety of different grade levels.

Phonics

I have used phonics as a basis for reading and spelling for several years. When a child understand the rules, he/she can attack previously unknown with more accuracy. Their spelling will also begin to make sense to them, thereby increasing their proficiency.
