Everyone needs a little help now and then with reading and writing skills. That's where I can help. I have been involved in the education field for 25+ years. I graduated The University of North Alabama in 1979 with a Bachelor's degree in English. I taught grades 11 and 12 English with the Colbert County School System for a few years. I married and left the area for several years. I was fortunate to be able to travel for many years, visiting England, Ireland and Scotland many times. I immersed myself in the history of each of these countries, concentrating on some of my favorite writers including Shakespeare, Lord Byron, and others. I returned to college in 2003 and earned a master's degree in Education concentrating on English/Language Arts and gained a reading specialty on my degree. I taught 7th grade English/Language Arts with Huntsville City Schools for 3 years. I also was involved in after-school tutoring in reading and writing, working with ESL students as well as academically challenged students. I truly enjoy helping students reach their goals and their maximum potential. I believe a student must be proficient in reading and writing before they can achieve the goals set for them by the institutions of learning that they attend. I believe if a student has a true desire to improve their skills, I can help them with their issues. Every field of learning, be it math, science, or English begins with good reading and writing skills. I look forward to working with you and helping you become a successful student.
