I recently graduated from Auburn University and I want to find a way to aid those in need. As someone who has always had a passion for education, I admire the people willing to ask for help learning something important or just looking to teach themselves something new.

I have a degree in Political Science and a minor in English. Subjects related to government/history and writing/grammar are my strongest points, but I was always an excellent student in math and sciences. I have also passed the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT) as part of the hiring process with the US State Department.

During much of my time at college, I worked at Camp ASCCA - a camp for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities - so I believe I can be helpful working with students with a relatively broad range of special needs.

I have been involved in music since junior high school, and have been playing the drums for approximately eight years. During that time, I played in a youth praise band and the band for my high school show choir (where I had the opportunity of playing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry) in addition to working on my own personal projects. Throughout this period I have also been honing my songwriting skills - the result of my love for both music and language.

When tutoring, I like communicating with my students about their motivations and specific goals during their learning experience to help craft a reasonable plan for maximizing our time together. I also think it's important to be consistently keeping parents (of young students) aware of exactly how the student is progressing and I like to include them in the learning process whenever possible.

Kid Friendly — Immediately my son took to Chris and his personality. Chris has that big brother attitude and I was pleased to find out that a teacher is in his immediate family. My son can be very "creative" when it comes to reasons NOT to do homework so I am looking forward to Chris pushing my son to be at his best. ...
