Hello,
My name is Dale and I am very interested in helping students reach their maximum educational potential. I received an Associate degree from Snead St. Jr. College and my Bachelor's degree from the University of Montevallo. My graduate studies were all completed at the University of Alabama which included a double Master's in elementary education and administration and a Doctorate in educational leadership. I am classified as "highly qualified" in elementary education. I began teaching third grade and taught all core subjects for the first half of the school day and taught elementary music the last half of the day. After three successful years with this arrangement, I was selected to serve the same school as assistant principal. During the next four years I assisted with physical education classes one year, taught fifth grade Social Studies one year and had two years of exclusive administration responsibilities. When the principal decided to retire I was appointed to fill that position. I served in that capacity for seventeen years. After taking early retirement from that position in 2003 I began a tutoring position with the Alabama Youth Home in Shelby County. My responsibilities during this time consisted of tutoring middle and high school students in all subject areas. Many of these students were functioning at a very low educational level so I had to determine their capabilities and build on that foundation. I remained in that position until November of 2010 when federal funds, used for this tutoring, were drastically cut and the program could no longer be funded. Again, I would love to help students set and reach all their educational goals. Thank you!
