I have been playing the piano since I was five years old and have played in churches since I was sixteen years old. I am currently pianist at a church in Cullman County. I have taught piano students for a total of five years.

I travel to students' homes to teach if the student has a piano. I teach once a week for 30 minutes each session. I use the Schaum method of teaching, which includes theory, rhythm, and method.

I teach all ages provided that the student knows his or her alphabet A-G and number 1-5. I have had great success with my teaching methods. I have a great deal of patience with students and enjoy teaching very much.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Music Theory

I have been playing piano in churches for more than thirty years and I have also taught piano lessons for a total of five years. I have a great deal of patience with children as I homeschooled my own children for a total of fourteen years.

I am very thorough in my teaching and believe that a student should master a theory concept before moving on to another one.

I think that music theory is essential in learning to play the piano and I teach it as a separate subject before taking the student to the keyboard.
