I am self-motivated, organized and dedicated to my profession and the students I serve. My work is of superior quality and up-to-date with the latest technology. My teaching experiences range from substituting in grades PreK2 through twelve,teaching in the general education and inclusion classroom and serving as assistant principal and principal at the middle and high school levels to tutoring students in reading and math. I have worked in several different school systems and taught a variety of different classes in each situation. All of these experiences have uniquely shaped my teaching and tutoring style.
I taught a variety of science courses and test preparation. The majority of my science courses were taught at Cherokee High School in Colbert County. The test preparations were taught at both Cherokee High School and Allen Thornton Career Technical Center in Killen, Alabama.
I took Astronomy as a part of my college teaching preparation. As a graduate student, I assisted in preparing labs for the undergraduate class and taught labs.
I have had teaching experience in life sciences both at the middle and high school levels. My biology experience includes biochemistry, general biology and marine biology. I have also assisted students in passing the biology portion of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam.
I took ecology as an undergraduate student. We took many field trips and I volunteered at Key Cave that contains endangered species. I also had the opportunity to teach environmental science at Cherokee High School for 4 years.
I have a teaching certificate for grades 4-12, administrative certificate PreK-12, substitute taught in Pre-K2 through 12th and tutored students in upper elementary 4th-6th.
I have experience tutoring both 4th and 6th grade mathematics. The techniques that I use to teach mathematics include a variety of hands-on activities, modeling how to work problems and independent practice. I have a working knowledge of all Alabama Course of Study Objectives.
My teaching certificate includes grade 4-12 in General Science. I completed an internship at Hibbett School to obtain this certification. My experience also includes teaching 6th science in the Lauderdale County School System at Cloverdale Junior High School.
This is my favorite subject of all the sciences! I taught this course to freshman for 8 years. It is a great mixture of both chemistry and physics. I also assisted students with test preparation when physical science was 20% of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam.
I took lessons from age 5-16 from a professional music teacher. The lesson encompassed both learning basic music and the technique of piano playing. Since this time I have played in rectials and at church events.
I began playing saxophone in the 5th grade and continued throughout high school. While in high school I participated in marching, concert and jazz band. I was selected to participate in numerous honor bands and received 20 medals in Solo and Ensemble. My senior year I auditioned for The Pride of Dixie Band (University of North Alabama) and was accepted on scholarship.
