I am a computer geek with a new Masters degree in education looking for someone to help understand English/Language Arts or computers. I have been, and am now, a substitute teacher. My goal is to help students to understand and overcome weaknesses and help them experience a better personal educational career. Education does not have to be a struggle all the time.
Many non-traditional methods are more successful for students who struggle with traditional methods of instruction. Foldable study guides, crossword puzzles, and hands-on approaches to instruction can make learning fun instead of a chore. Not all games and fun are used, but this can ease the pressure of the struggle.
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are needed to finish successful projects in school. I have worked and used these programs successfully professionally and personally. There have also been opportunities for computer programming, data-entry, and professional presentations are in my past work experience.
Training of newly hired employees to learn to be good technical support agents for a major mobile phone company at a previous job for two years was a fulfilling challenge. Tutoring and side-by-side instruction was part of my job description. During my time as a member of the “Most Help Needed” task force, increased production site wide by 15%. This task force contained 5 instructors. I am pleased to have been one able to assist agents to improve with a few tips and tricks.
My sons, who are grown now, suffered from ADD/ADHD. They have earned their diplomas and moved on with their lives to be successful members of the workforce. Focus and training are key ingredients to these problem areas. One-on-one instruction is a tool I can provide for our struggling students.
