My experiences with children in education started in 2009 as I began work on my management degree at Miles college. I noticed that there were numerous children with behavioral issues that were being disruptive and causing numerous distractions for the teachers in the classrooms that they were in and the schools in general. Additional research uncovered a federal policy that was pertinent to public schools in America. In short, regardless of a child's actions as long as no one was under no physical danger from the child or any danger of hurting themselves, it was almost impossible to remove that child from the education environment. Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1997 put this mandate on schools.

It was then that I decided to obtain a MAT in Special Education instead of a MBA in Business Administration. I have 40 or more credit hours of special education classes including autism and behavioral studies. I have also worked as a residential instructor with students that are autistic with co modalities behavioral related. I am in the last 12 weeks of book work and will soon be taking my Praxis II exam with a mild to moderate designation. After which I begin student teaching.

ADD/ADHD

I am currently in my last semester of study for my master's degree in special education. I also work at a residential school for children with autism and behavioral exceptionalities. This is also including three years of work as a substitute teacher in a local school district where I worked on a daily basis with children with ADD/ADHD.

Aspergers

Aspergers is on the Autism spectrum and in many cases, may even be considered as High Functioning Autism. My current studies at Liberty University in their MAT in Special Education program includes research on DMV 4 and 5. That would include all five forms of autism.

Autism

I have been employed for the last year by a local school that primarily serves children with autism and related behaviors. I also have had graduate level courses learning to work with children on the spectrum.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked as a substitute for 3 years at all grade levels in a local school district. Much of that time has been at some of the better elementary schools. I work with the children on Math, English/Literature, History, and Science with great results.

Special Needs

I have 40 credit hours of Graduate studies toward my Masters degree in Special Education. I am also a state licensed substitute teacher having worked for the Birmingham Board of Education. I currently work for residential school for children with Autism and behavioral exceptionalities.

Study Skills

I have worked as a substitute teaching for three years. I have been in classrooms at all grave levels and subjects. This past year I worked in an 8th grade Special Education resource room. My caseload included 26 students of various levels. I instructed them in Math and Language Arts as well as assisting them in completing content assignments in Science and Social Studies.
