I love the pursuit of knowledge and am especially keen on tutoring young adults who aspire to learn as much as possible about the world! I am an energetic, attention-grabbing, and diligent tutor with a strong background in tutoring and teaching. I have tutored my peers and younger students since high school, through medical school, and even served as a Supplemental Instruction Leader during college for Biology I and Biology II. My strengths are my ability to make even the most "boring" lectures and projects fun--everything is interesting once you get deep enough.
I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.93 from UAB with a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in neuroscience and a B.A. in Philosophy with a concentration in philosophy of science. My retail and research experience during my high school and college years, along with later experiences in my first year of medical school (I did not finish my first year following a cancer diagnosis that severely impacted my ability to excel academically) centering on patient interaction and interpersonal skill development, make me a wonderful candidate. I am now commencing my studies as an Epidemiology student in pursuit of an MPH. Highlights of my employment and academic experience include the following:
Ø Strong Project Management Skills. With extensive experience working in research labs, hospitals, and classroom settings, I have been involved in planning, research, and public service that resulted in significant accomplishments.
Ø Excellent Academic Record. Since entering universities at the Bachelor’s level, I have consistently maintained above-average grades while healthy and holding outside employment and volunteering.
Ø Communications and Public Relations Skills. In each of my positions I have dealt cooperatively with the general public, co-workers, and superiors. My skills in interpersonal relations and cross-cultural communications are excellent.
Ø Analytical and Organizational Skills. Practical employment in areas of my concentration allowed me to demonstrate my strengths in data research and analysis, project organization, and computer proficiency.
