Although I have eight years of teaching experience at the high school level and one year at the community college level, I am a tutor at heart. I had the privilege of tutoring kindergarten and elementary students in the basic skills of grade-level math, reading, and grammar, and I LOVED it. One-to-one tutoring is so rewarding to me, as I see the measurable growth in the student's target area happening before my very eyes!I found my "calling" as a teacher...and that is to tutor!
I do have a large education, achieving a Master's Degree in Education from Alabama A&M in 1999, so I am able to tutor in most academic areas covered in the K-12 classrooms. I love learning, and I will pass that enthusiasm on to my tutee, as well. I even incorporate some test-taking strategies when appropriate, and if needed, so that my student will be more confident on test days and see an improvement in test scores. I've been known to create my own visual aides in order to help my student "get it." I will find whatever it takes to help you, my student, succeed! And I do have a plethora of techniques that I can use during our tutoring sessions.
Whether you are a parent looking for a tutor for your child, or an adult who needs a little extra help in a particular subject, I would absolutely love the opportunity to help you achieve your goals.
