I have over 12 years of teaching experience in teaching biology and chemistry spanning high school all the way to undergraduate level. I so much derive solace and satisfaction in imparting knowledge to students. In addition to coming out in flying colors in their various examinations, my students always have pride among their peers. I strongly believe that a good tutor should be able to bring out the best in his/her students by creating a challenging environment for learning.
I always make sure that I develop the interest of the students in the subjects taught by acquiring and keeping their attention. By citing relevant examples, I have noticed that students are able to retain in their memory, the salient points raised during the period of discourse. For effective teaching and learning to be achieved, simple teaching aids must be used in order to stimulate imagination, discussion and creativity in students. The learning and teaching process in schools continues to bore students and not inspire enjoyment of the process because many teachers are still too dominant in the classroom. As a result of this, I have always been able to give my students a sense of belonging and responsibility by helping them to actively participate in the learning process. For effectiveness of teaching and learning process, I make sure I assess and evaluate my students from time to time with a view of ascertaining how much they have learned.
With all these methods there is no way the best would not be brought out of a seemingly disinterested student. As a seasoned and well experienced chemistry/biology tutor, I have helped several professionals such as medical doctors, pharmacists, microbiologists, engineers, and even tutors because of how easy I make these subjects.
My career goal in life is to build an impeccable reputation as a purposeful and result-oriented natural scientist, researcher and teacher. That is why I have put in an application to study PHD Environmental Chemistry, come this fall at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
