Apply To be a tutor
How Can I Find Students to Help in my Area?
Please give yourself at least 20 minutes when applying to be a tutor. The entire process
is completed online and we suggest doing the work at home so you have access to all the
necessary information. We will ask for your basic information, education, resume, photo (optional),
and a free response submission to be posted on your tutor profile. The next day,
once we have reviewed your application, you will receive an email with a link that
you must follow to confirm your application. Please note that you must become certified in each
subject you teach by either completing a short multiple choice test or by submitting
a written request detailing your experience.

We Notify You About Students
How do I learn of tutoring opportunities?
There are two ways you can find tutoring opportunities through WyzAnt: 1) WyzAnt receives
a general inquiry from a student in your area and we notify you of this opportunity.
In this case, you can run a job search on our jobs page and then email the student with
your availability. 2) A student may email you directly after seeing your profile on the site.
When this occurs, you should login to your WyzAnt email and reply saying whether
or not you're interested in tutoring this student. You can also ask any questions you may have
when you email the student. In either case, WyzAnt will always notify you via email
when there are new tutoring opportunities in your area.
3
Email With Students
How do I correspond with potential students?
It is your responsibility to email back and forth with potential students to determine
whether a particular opportunity works well for both you and the student. When discussing
and scheduling a tutoring opportunity, please note that all email correspondence must go through
the WyzAnt email system. To guarantee a means of payment, you will not be able to begin
tutoring or exchange phone numbers until the student has billing information on file with WyzAnt.

Beginning Lessons
When can I begin tutoring in my area?
Once you verify that your student has billing information on file (usually a credit card), you
can go ahead and start tutoring. Most students prefer to have the lessons at home but
you may also conduct the lessons in a safe public space like a church, library, or coffee shop.

Submit Your Lessons
How do I keep track of my tutoring?
You are responsible for submitting the details online after each lesson.
We use this information to bill students and to pay tutors for tutoring work
completed. You may have noticed that WyzAnt tutors are required to have consistent
email access. In addition to submitting lessons, you must be available to communicate
with students and with WyzAnt. Luckily, you can do this work from any computer or on the
go at mobile.wyzant.com.

Payment for tutoring
How do I receive payment for tutoring?
You may elect to receive payment via direct deposit or check for your tutoring work.
Payment is made twice each month. As a tutor, you choose your own hourly rate and
receive a percentage of this rate. Initially, you receive 60% and, as you gain
experience, we will increase this percentage up to 80%.
