I would like to congratulate Wyzant on putting together this extremely useful service for us. It is a win-win-win situation because it brings together the student and the tutor and benefits Wyzant too. I like the fact that they have used technology in a proactive way to ensure that everyone is getting a fair deal. I have been a tutor with Wyzant for a few months now and I am very impressed with this business! Wyzant offers so much to both the tutors and to the students who are looking for tutoring, whether it be for yoga or swimming or pre-algebra and biology, Wyzant has professional and very educated tutors. Wyzant's policies are all very fair - again, to the tutors and to the students. Students are not charged until after their sessions and they have to be happy and satisfied with their sessions. Tutors are paid twice a month like a regular paid job and the checks are timely and accurate. Additionally, the info@wyzant.com email address offers almost instant answers and explanations; the website's FAQ is also an excellent resource for any questions for students and tutors. WyzAnt is a phenomenal idea for matching students with tutors and tutors with students. People who want tutoring no longer have to rely on word of mouth to find a great tutor. Also, tutors don't have to worry about clients who try to obtain services without paying, due to WyzAnt's secure payment policies. I have tutored independently and with other services for several years, but my experience with Wyzant surpasses any other. Not only have I added new clients, but I can always be sure that those clients get the most professional customer service while I focus on what I love to do: help people learn! As an experienced tutor, I am grateful for the high degree of independence I have when tutoring through Wyzant. There is no official method or required syllabi. The only supervision is the kind that is helpful to both students and tutors: Wyzant ensures broad student choice, effective communication, and hassle-free billing. To me, that is worth forgoing a small percentage of my hourly rate. This is a great service that can be even better as more students and tutors use it. Students and parents are savvy, and won't settle for average tutors or confusing customer service. Because Wyzant offers so much information as students select a tutor, students can be confident in the value they get for their investment. My wyzant experience has been a great success and it was done in the most simplest and efficient manners. It started with an idea from a friend for me to get involved with some tutoring or social work in the city. I didn't know where to look or begin and so I searched online. I just wanted to find a place where I could just sign up and state what I could help with. Wyzant was at the top of my results, and in no time I posted my info and got started. The best was receiving emails from students or parents and managing them with wyzant's secure policy. My experience with WyzAnt so far has been pretty good. I haven't booked any jobs, but I think that's mostly because it's summer and everyone is vying for the same few jobs. The website was easy to use and becoming certified in a subject is also quick and painless. I can't speak yet to being paid, but being able to do all this over the internet has really been a blessing. (more)

WyzAnt is a fabulous website for tutors and students alike. It is often difficult to find students locally, so having a website that connects students and tutors by both zip code AND subject is perfect. Students can feel confident that they choose the right tutor because they can view the tutor's credentials and all payments are secured through the website. Wyzant makes it easy for tutors to obtain students by creating a network where students and tutors can communicate and set up lessons. Without Wyzant my search would be time consuming and ineffective. It allows you to be an independent contractor giving you the flexibility one needs to supplement other endeavors. (more)

As a tutor for Wyzant, believe it or not, I fell in love w/ the NYC again. The people I tutored and places I have gone (and not just me) shows how dedicated we are to provide the best, to does who need help. Currently I am working w/ other Wyzant tutors at a after school tutoring program in Harlem. From what i have seen from other tutors from Wyzant, I can see why people come to Wyzant for tutoring service.  (more)

When I first moved to NYC, I knew I wanted to become a tutor but I didn't know how. Internet searches for potential tutoring work resulted in contacting agencies that wanted me to perform in the 99th percentile on the SAT's, GRE's or LSAT's or else get out of town. No one was looking for someone like me who is smart and can teach standardized test skills, but also has a wide range of talents to offer clients.

But with Wyzant, they not only hired me right away, they put me in touch with an online platform that makes finding students easy. They let me choose my own rate, so as to maximize my ability to compete with other tutors, and give me a generous percentage of my tutoring fee. It's also pretty easy to get in touch with someone working in the company if I have questions or concerns. I would highly recommend starting with Wyzant if you're a new tutor in town.
