Finding a Tutor

A: Simple. Use the navigation panel on the left side of your screen. Enter the subject for which you need a tutor, your travel willingness and your zip code. You’ll see a list of all WyzAnt’s tutors that match your criteria. Click on their names to learn more and to contact a tutor directly.
A: All tutors listed on our website have availability, even if they don’t have an updated schedule. Your best bet is to send the tutor an email to see if he or she can work with your schedule.
A: If your search comes up empty, don’t worry. WyzAnt has resources to find you a “special order” tutor. WyzAnt is connected to many university communities, job placement agencies, and different Internet resources around the country. This allows for a quick turnaround time when our customers ask us to find them a tutor. Let us help you in your search for the perfect tutor, and do it with confidence. A: If your search comes up empty, don’t worry. First of all, there's a good chance that WyzAnt has tutors in its database that can help. Some tutors just aren't listed online. And if all else fails, WyzAnt has resources to find you a “special order” tutor. Learn more.

Payment Questions

A: Most tutors range in price from $30 to $50 per hour. However, WyzAnt does offer discounts to our students for making an advanced purchase.

A package of lessons that would cost $400-$999 in value will receive a 10% discount, resulting in an upfront charge of $360-$899. A package of $1,000 or more in value will be eligible for a 15% discount, and cost $850+.

Remember, your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed, and the credits you purchase are both refundable and transferable to any WyzAnt tutor.
A: WyzAnt requires that a valid credit card be on file prior to phone numbers being exchanged for two reasons. 1) This policy helps ensure the legitimacy of the inquiries our tutors receive . 2) It provides WyzAnt with a means of collecting payment for tutoring lessons. WyzAnt appreciates your cooperation with our credit card policy. Thank you.
A: No. WyzAnt must receive payment prior to your first meeting. However, WyzAnt does have a great satisfaction guarantee policy that makes our first lesson risk-free. See below.
A: The easiest method is by credit card via WyzAnt’s secure website. Once you’ve found a suitable tutor, just enter your credit card information through your WyzAnt account. As soon as WyzAnt receives and verifies this credit card information, you'll be able to set up the first lesson with your tutor. Please note: you are not permitted to speak with your tutor via telephone until credit card info is received. No charges will be made against your credit until after you've completed a lesson with a WyzAnt tutor.
A: Yes. Most of our customers purchase a tutoring credit package and enjoy a discount of up to 15%.

To purchase a tutoring package, simply login to your WyzAnt account and navigate to the secure payment page. After each lesson, your account will be debited the appropriate amount.

Alternatively, you may pay for each lesson as you go. Under the "pay-as-you-go" option, WyzAnt charges your credit card after each lesson.

A: Yes, but WyzAnt will have to receive your check before your tutoring lesson. So leave plenty of time or WyzAnt may have to notify your tutor that payment has not been received so not to begin the tutoring. Make checks payable to WyzAnt, Inc. Mail to:

A: You are in fact receiving the discount. Here’s how: Let’s assume you purchased the $400 credit package, so you paid $360 for it. Let’s also say your tutor’s rate is $40 per hour. After a one hour lesson, $40 is debited from your WyzAnt credit. Remember, you got $400 in credit but paid only $360 for it, so you received your 10% discount upfront when we gave you a free $40 in credit. Hope this helps clarify.

WyzAnt Tutors

A: WyzAnt goes to great lengths to ensure the highest quality tutors. We screen all of our tutors via a thorough application process that includes proficiency testing, interviews and random background checks.
A: If you are unhappy with your WyzAnt tutor after the first hour, you are entitled to a full refund, even if you’ve purchased a credit package. WyzAnt is confident in its tutors, so you should be too. Alternatively, you may ask us to send you another tutor for a complimentary lesson.
This guarantee is only valid for the first hour of tutoring. Please also realize that there is no long-term guarantee that you or your child will improve in terms of grades or test scores.

Questions About Tutoring Lessons

A: No. WyzAnt is an in-home tutoring company. WyzAnt offers you a full service website to find a tutor and to manage your account with us online, but WyzAnt does not do online tutoring.
A: The majority of WyzAnt’s customers have their tutoring at their homes. This arrangement has proven to be beneficial in providing the student with a familiar, comfortable, relaxed environment in which to learn. If you wish and your tutor agrees, you may have your tutoring lessons at a convenient public location such as a library, a church or a coffee shop.
A: You can make the scheduling arrangements by conversing with your tutor via email. Please add credit to your account before the first lesson or call our office to make payment.

Account Questions

A: After each lesson, your tutor will login to WyzAnt.com and enter the start-time and end-time for your lesson. As a WyzAnt client, you have access to an online account that allows you to view your current balance and all tutoring activity entered by the tutor. So you can be sure your account always remains accurate. Furthermore, you'll get an email after each tutoring lesson notifying you of the hours that the tutor enters.
A: Yes and Yes. When you purchase WyzAnt credit, you can use this credit however you please. Let’s say your daughter gets regular physics tutoring from WyzAnt but has a huge Spanish test on Friday…No problem; give us a call and we’ll send you a Spanish tutor. WyzAnt offers private instruction in all academic disciplines, musical instruments, computer software and more. Think of us as your one-stop tutor shop.
A: The easiest way to get this issue corrected is to contact the tutor directly about it. The tutor can then go into WyzAnt.com to adjust the lesson details to accurately reflect the correct dates/times.
