Even before Chandler was founded, farmers in the area sent their children to school in a tent house near Ray Road and Arizona Avenue. By 1912, classes were conducted in businesses and churches around town. Soon Chandler Grammar School was built on Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard. Chandler High School was built soon after, with money from the first bond campaign in Chandler's history. Chandler's school system has only grown since then. Chandler residents have been dedicated to building new schools to facilitate the city's population growth.
